In a recent Internet Retailer article, I read an interesting statistic, “When first arriving on the home page of an ecommerce site, approximately 40% of all online shoppers immediately use the site’s search engine.” Makes sense. I’ve actually been paying more attention to my favorite online retailer’s searchandizing capabilities lately, and realized that a lot of them are really underdeveloped, AND, as statistics say, frustrated shoppers who can’t locate what they want to find, tend to leave the site without making a purchase (or returning). From experience, I can understand why.
